Lebawit Lily Girma is an award-winning Ethiopian-American travel journalist, author and photographer with over 10 years’ experience in storytelling focused on culture, outdoor adventure and sustainable tourism as a vehicle for social impact. A former corporate attorney who ditched the office for the Caribbean road, her work has been widely published and featured in major travel publications, including CNN, BBC, AFAR, Forbes, Lonely Planet, Sierra, Delta Sky, and MorningCalm (Korea Air), among others.
In addition, she has authored three Caribbean guidebook titles for Moon Travel Guides, and collaborates on editorial projects and content marketing with travel brands and tourism boards, such as American Airlines Vacations, Belize Tourism Industry Association, Go Dominican Republic, Marriott Bonvoy, Travelzoo, and World Nomads, among others.
An advocate of slow travel, Lily has lived in and explored the Caribbean region extensively over the past 15 years, having lived long term in Belize, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic, aside from visiting numerous Caribbean destinations for work.
Fluent in four languages and with an educational background spanning three continents, including Africa and Europe, Lily‘s extensive cross-cultural, "third culture kid" experiences shape every aspect of her work and life.
